Natan Friedman came to Israel from Azerbaijan in the early 1990s, built the city's club and coached its teams until his death in April 2016. The club's home hall on Ofer Boulevard, next to the municipal pool, bears his name.
In 2020 the club's girls' team won the Southern District championship.
